WAP Party

Philadelphia Contemporary and friends host a WAP (Writerly Association of Philadelphia) Party during the Association of Writers & Writers Programs Conference & Bookfair. The ticketed event will take place on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Globe Dye Works, a former textile manufacturing facility in the Frankford section of Philly.
The event, co-curated by Curator of Spoken Word, Yolanda Wisher, and poet, Cynthia Dewi Oka, will feature interactivities led by Philadelphia Poet Laureate Airea D. Matthews, typewriter poet Marshall James Kavanaugh aka Dream Poet for Hire and Andrea Walls of the Museum of Black Joy, a karaoke battle between local and visiting poets hosted by Asian Arts Initiative, and a party DJed by Dr. Bruce Campbell Jr. aka DJ Junior of Record Breakin’ Music.
Throughout the evening, enjoy food by Honeysuckle Provisions, open bar by Art in the Age, and spend your ends at a Harriett's Bookshop pop-up. All members will receive a special giveaway item as well as opportunities to win dope raffle prizes.
